How to Install a DSTv Dish | dstv.com

Installing a DSTv Dish may prove to be tactical, though not too tough. The reason is that this device makes use of satellite signal to trap the necessary information that it requires to produce the desired output. DSTv kit have three notable components namely; the pan, the dish and the decoder.

Mounting the Pan and Dish

  1. Screw the concrete screws into the four open holes in the base of the DStv antenna pan at the chosen location. This chosen location should not have an obstruction between the pan and the Eastern sky.
  2. Then place the dish assembly on the top of the pan, with the center of the pan clamped on the back dish assembly aligning with the top of the pole holding the dish.
  3. Tighten the two screws on the pan clamp to hold the dish assembly firmly to the pan.
  4. Plug the RG-6 coaxial cable into the “Cable port” at the base of the dish assembly.
  5. Then plug the other end of the cable into the “Antenna port” in the back of the DStv satellite receiver connected to your television.

Aligning the DSTv Dish

  1. The simplest way or method is to use a sat meter which can be gotten from builders or else, you can use a compass to find 81.5 and point the dish in that direction. I recommend you use your neighbors’ dish to help you locate the best direction.
  2. After the first step has been achieved, it is required that you get the elevation correct. On the side of the dish are degree markers to guide you. Roughly place the dish between 36 and 39 degrees on the markers.
  3. If you are looking at the dish, turn the LNB so that it points to 4 O’clock and continue making adjustments to improve signal quality.
