UNN Current Ranking

UNN Current Ranking

University of Nigeria always comes amongst the top whenever universities in Nigeria are ranked despite the parameters used. This is apparently the
case because the school authority has steadily made efforts since inception to improve the course content, research, student affairs, reward of excellence, staff welfare, infrastructure, and a transparent system.
For example in July 2015, according to Journals Consortiums, University of Nigeria was 2nd Best University in Nigeria as well as 13th Best University in Africa after about 1,447 universities were compared by the Consortium.
The high rank of UNN has made it one of the highest sought-after schools in Nigeria.

UNN Postgraduate Courses

If you wish to further your education at UNN, there are basic requirements you must meet. These requirements include: 5 Credits in O’ Level, and must have completed your compulsory NYSC.
UNN offers Post Graduate Courses in Graduate Diploma, Masters’ Degree (M.Sc.), and up to Doctor of Philosophy or Doctorate Degree (Ph.D).
Interested candidates who are eligible to do Diploma must have Upper Credit in HND. Candidates with qualifications like ACCA, ACMA, ICAN and AIB may be considered for a Diploma Program. They must also have 5 credits at O’ Level including English and Mathematics.
Furthermore for Master’s degree, candidates must have good Second Class Honors Degree from a recognized university with 5 O’ Level Credits (English and Mathematics inclusive). Candidates who hold other qualifications apart from the one above will be subject to review of the School Senate before admission is considered.
Finally for Ph.D, candidates must have a minimum of 3.5 CGPA from Master’s Degree and must have demonstrated evidence of completed academic research.
If you meet these requirements, you can check the University portal for sales of postgraduate entry forms and later proceed to the school for further application.

UNN Grading System

At UNN, Grading System is done on a scale of 5 just like that of every other university in Nigeria. The rundown is shown below:
First Class Division: (100 – 70 with 5.00 – 4.50 CGPA)
Second Class Upper Division: (69 – 60 with 4.49 – 3.50 CGPA)
Second Class Lower Division: (49 – 45 with 3.49 – 2.40 CGPA)
Third Class Division: (49 – 45 with 2.39 – 1.50)
These grades determine what students graduate with after studying for a stipulated duration of his/her course. First class graduates are often retained in the school.

UNN Admission Requirement

Admission requirement of UNN is at least 5 Credits (including English and Mathematics) in NOT more than two sittings from O’ Level.
Even though this condition is the basic for all departments, other rules may apply from one department to another. All candidates MUST score at least 200 and above in JAMB (though this score is subject to change depending on student population and JAMB guidelines).
The cut-off score required to gain admission to study the course of your choice at University of Nigeria varies from faculty to faculty. All prospective candidates must apply for Post UTME by visiting their portal on www.unn.edu.ng as well as check your result there.
Both operations are done using the PIN from your scratch cards purchased at designated banks announced by the school. Also, UNN Direct Entry candidates take exams before they are considered for admission. Only students who made the school their first choice at JAMB are allowed to take Post UTME.

UNN Duration of Studies

University of Nigeria uses the standard of 6-3-3-4 system of education in Nigeria, which means undergraduates spend at least 4 years doing a program in the University.
Also, all other courses offered at University of Nigeria follow this schedule of 4 years (where a student does not have an extra semester), but there are variations in courses like Law, Engineering (which requires 5 years), and Medicine and Surgery (6/7 depending on school calendar).

UNN Transcript

As part of continued efforts to serve alumni of the University better, University of Nigeria has designed an electronic platform where they can place order for transcripts through their portal on alumni.unn.edu.ng/web/guest/itranscript.
This method of requesting for transcript is known as iTranscript application. It enables all ordered transcripts to be sent electronically to the schools were they are needed. This way, alumni don’t have to visit the school and queue for their transcript as this makes the process of transcript application a lot easier and convenient for alumni of the school.
When you open the page, click on Continue and all the required information (like school where it is needed, full address of its school, ZIP, country and continent for foreign schools) will be inputted on the portal. All payments must be made online. Note that as soon as your transcript is picked up by your courier of choice, the tracking number of your transcript will be sent to you.
When you are done doing all that is required of you, use the Quit button to log out.
