How to Activate your Master Card or Verve Card for internet Transaction

Many are the  things you can do with your master card or Verse Card. Ranging from:
  1. Using ATM to pay for your bills
  2. Using ATM to transfer money into another account of the same or different bank within or outside Nigeria.
Technology indeed is making things better, easier and faster.
For me, i Can't remember the last time i went ti the counter to withdraw money or pay in money to another another person's account from the counter when i can comfortably do that at the comfort of my home on my laptop or simply walk to any nearby AT Machine and transfer the fund.

Looking at the benefits of internet Banking, not only that it saves time, it could be embarrassing only for you to find out that your ATM card cannot work effectively apart from mare withdrawal of money from the AT Machine.
Not all ATM cards are activated for internet transactions. Your account officer might tell you that it activated but my dear, you need to verify that.

For instance, all first Bank ATM card are not pre-activated.
You have to do it by yourself.

Here i will walk you on:

HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR ATM CARD FOR ONLINE BANKING.

You can use your Verve card on all channels (ATMs, mobile, POS, Web, and Kiosk) and locations with logos bearing: Verve, InterSwitch, Quickteller, Reward. I use my Verve debit cards a lot to pay for online transactions as well as transfer money to other bank accounts via the Quickteller app. You can also use it to withdraw cash, pay bills and purchase airtime at ATMs.
Nigerian Banks that currently issue Verve cards are listed below:

    Access Bank Plc
    Ecobank Plc
    Enterprise Bank Limited
    FCMB
    First Bank Plc
    Fidelity Bank Plc
    Heritage bank Limited
    Jaiz Bank
    Keystone Bank
    Wema Bank Plc
    Mainstreet Bank Limited
    Sterling Bank Plc
    Skye Bank Plc
    UBA
    Unity Bank Plc

Simply walk into any bank branch to request for a Verve Card.

Once you get your verve card, activate it by changing the PIN at the ATM. Once activated, you can start using it for your transactions but for you to use it to make payments online, you must register the Verve card for Interswitch Safetoken Service.
Interswitch Safetoken Service is a system that generates a 6-8 digit One-Time-Password (OTP) whenever a transaction is initiated via the Interswitch Web Payment Platform.

Registering for the Safetoken enables you carry out transactions on any web merchant site that has integrated the Interswitch Payment gateway using a One Time Password (OTP) as a second level authentication process in addition to your Card Number, PIN and CVV2 code.
For you to be able generate OTP for your Verve card whenever you are carrying out a transaction with it, you will first have to register it for the safetoken service.

You can do that at a nearest ATM by following the steps below:

  • At the ATM, insert your Verve card
  • Input your 4-digit PIN and press Enter
  • Select your bank account type eg Savings or Current
  • Select the ‘Quickteller’ option from the ATM menu screen
  • Select ‘Pay Bills’ from the Quickteller menu list on the ATM screen
  • Select ‘Others’ for the bill payment menu option list
  • Enter ‘322222” as the Biller Code
  • Enter your Phone Number as the Customer Reference Number and select ‘Proceed’
  • You will get a display “Do you want to make this payment?” Amount Due:N1. (DO NOT edit the amount to be paid)
  • Click on “Pay amount due”

You will then get a confirmation page indicating the registration was successful!

That is all.

Thereafter, if you want to make payment online with your verve card and you get to a stage where you are prompted to enter an OTP, you will get the OTP via text message on your mobile phone which you will use to complete your online transaction. If you add the verve card to the Quickteller mobile application, you will also be able to generate an OTP from the application.

Hope this information helps?
