Police Service Commission promotes AIG, 2 DCPs, 6,452 other senior officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of a commissioner of police (CP) to the rank of an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), 2 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) have also been elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police while 6,452 other senior officers got promoted to their next ranks.

A statement by the PSC Spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, gave the breakdown of the senior officers who benefited in the promo­tion to include 47 Superintendents of Police (SP) who were elevated to the ranks of Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) and 498 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) were promoted to the next rank of SPs.
Also, 5,907 Inspectors were promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).
Two Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP), Mohimi D Edgal and Aji Ali Janga, have been appointed acting Commissioners of Police.
The PSC, however, returned to the IGP all recommendations pertaining to special promotions as its special committee investigating the issues arising from it has since began sitting”, the statement noted.
